We are thrilled to celebrate this incredible milestone as our founder, Manvir Victor, takes on the role of President for the Patient Liaison Advisory Group (PLAG), which was launched by the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) at the World Congress of Nephrology 2022.
Manvir’s values as a patient advocate align perfectly with PLAG, dedicating his time and efforts to tackle the global burden of kidney disease while embedding the patient perspective to shape global health initiatives and policies.
It truly is inspiring to witness his unwavering passion and commitment to championing healthcare, which have been displayed in his journey of countless patient advocacy works and experiences, through compiling the voices of many experts and patient advocates, including himself, to combat global health issues.
A kidney transplant recipient himself, Manvir brings a profound personal perspective to his work, bridging the often-overlooked gap between clinical care and lived patient experience. His distinguished contributions to global health advocacy include serving as a World Health Organization (WHO) Patient Advocate in Malaysia, where he championed patient-centered policies and systemic healthcare improvements. He plays an integral Chairman role in Patient for Patients Safety Malaysia and is also a board member of the National Patient Safety Council, contributing strategic guidance to enhance the safety and quality of care across the country.
Beyond his national roles, Manvir has worked extensively across Europe and Asia, collaborating with governments, public health bodies, and healthcare organizations to advance patient literacy, education, and awareness around critical global healthcare challenges. His efforts have helped empower countless individuals and reshaped conversations around chronic illness, patient rights, and access to equitable care.
