More than 1,000 travellers heading home for the Merdeka holidays received complimentary medical kits at the Gombak Toll Plaza, thanks to a joint initiative by KMI Healthcare and AFA PRIME Berhad (AFA).

This initiative is part of KMI Healthcare’s Kesihatan Memenuhi Impian campaign and AFA’s road safety programme, aimed at alleviating Malaysians of their health and safety concerns as they travel during one of the busiest periods of the year.

Each traveller received a KMI Jaga Anda Mini Medical Kit, containing basic first-aid supplies, bottled water, and a reusable bag. The kits also featured fun, cheeky local phrases in Pahang and Terengganu dialects, a small but thoughtful touch to connect with travellers and encourage regular health check-ups.

Volunteers and representatives from both organisations were on site to manage the handout, which was warmly received by motorists making their way through the toll plaza.

KMI Healthcare Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Rayney Azmi Ali, said the campaign reflects the organisation’s commitment to extending healthcare access beyond hospitals.

“By equipping travellers with the KMI Jaga Anda Kit, we want to remind everyone that their health and safety should never take a backseat, especially during festive seasons when the desire to be with loved ones is strongest,” he said.

AFA PRIME Berhad General Manager, Encik Ibrahim Tambi Cik Mohamad, emphasised the role of highway operators in supporting travellers.

“This Merdeka collaboration with KMI Healthcare reflects our shared concern for road users. As we expand and upgrade our highways, we remain dedicated to ensuring that every journey is not only efficient and sustainable, but also safe and meaningful,” he said.

Both organisations said they will continue to explore similar initiatives aimed at improving the health, safety, and wellbeing of Malaysians, particularly during peak travel seasons.
