Menopause

Menopause Asia officially launched its digital platform in conjunction with World Menopause Day, which falls on 18th October 2025. The platform connects women to licensed doctors, reliable information, and a community that truly understands their journey. Held at The Timber Space, the room was unmistakably radiant with Wonder Woman energy, with (most of the) women in their middle years celebrating their strength and health.

The founder, Joanne Ho, shared about how her relentless search for answers during her own experience with menopause had led her to this day, finally creating a safe space for women going through the same thing. Not to find just answers, but reliable and accurate information. Knowing laughs at the occasional inside jokes she slipped into her speech gave the comforting impression that while menopause was once a topic we had to tiptoe around, we’re now living in a time where it can be spoken about openly, even lightheartedly.

What struck me as a young person (there were less than 20% of us in the room, it seemed) was how there wasn’t an ounce of anxiety or discomfort from the women there. The room was brimmed with encouragement, empowerment, and an almost contagious eagerness—to learn more, share more, and spread more awareness to other women. That’s girlhood at its peak right there. I see my future, and it’s bright. It’s not even that I’m unafraid of reaching this stage of life, I’m looking forward to it.

These women made it all look so chic, so… liberating. I can’t wait to grow older and become as strong as them. As knowledgeable, as curious, and as resilient as them.

I couldn’t help but reflect on how far women have come. I wasn't born in an era where women couldn’t do anything, couldn’t speak up, couldn’t stand for themselves, so I, the younger generation now, am highly privileged to benefit from the hard work and effort of so many powerful women who have made it possible. To be strong. To be socially allowed to be strong. Nowadays, we are empowered to be strong, to stand on our own, without needing to rely on others, unlike how it was stigmatised back then.

Thanks to the work of incredible women, there are countless resources to learn from and seek support through, and in this case, when going through menopause. Of course, the concerns remain unavoidable (sleepless nights, vaginal dryness, hot flushes), but that’s the whole point: support, knowledge, awareness, togetherness. With the right support and information, we’re equipped to make more informed choices for our bodies.

So yes, girls, do not worry. I see our future and it’s bright, confident, and beautiful.
