At the heart of Thailand’s hemophilia journey is Professor Partrraporn Isarangkura. affectionately known as Dr. Pat. Recognized as the *mother of hemophilia in Thailand, Dr. Pat’s legacy extends far beyond her medical expertise. She brought with her a vision that transformed care, one rooted in collaboration between doctors and patients. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have met Dr. Pat and experienced firsthand the generosity and dedication of Thai healthcare professionals committed to strengthening the patient community.,
Each year, healthcare professionals, patients, families, and advocacy organizations across Thailand come together to mark World Hemophilia Day with a unified voice. Activities range from educational seminars and awareness campaigns to blood donation drives and community support events, all aimed at improving the lives of those affected by bleeding disorders.
Thailand has made meaningful strides in hemophilia care, especially through universal health coverage schemes that have improved access to treatment. However, disparities remain, particularly in rural areas where resources and specialized care are still limited. World Hemophilia Day serves as a reminder of these ongoing challenges, and as a powerful platform to advocate for equitable care, early diagnosis, and comprehensive support.
Above all, this day is a testament to the resilience, strength, and solidarity of the bleeding disorders community in Thailand, a community I’m proud to be part of.
