Salim Satori

Overview

Advocate, Author, and Mental Health Champion

Salim Satori is an inspiring mental health advocate, author, and founder of the NGO Mencegah Depressi Secara Saintifik (Prevent Depression Scientifically). A seasoned soft-skills trainer, Salim's career took an unexpected turn during Malaysia's COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. The prolonged restrictions devastated his industry and left him grappling with clinical depression, a struggle he was unaware of until much later.

His book, Depression is So Painful, highlights the power of science and antidepressants in saving lives and seeks to destigmatize depression, especially in Asia, where mental health remains a sensitive topic. Since its launch by Malaysia's Ministry of Health, Salim’s book has become a beacon of hope for those battling mental health challenges. He has been invited to speak at numerous events, including the Mental Health for Youth program, while his advocacy work has also been featured on prominent media platforms.

Salim’s influence extends globally, with interviews and podcast appearances in the United States, Canada, Pakistan, India, and Malaysia, including a notable feature on Lorenzo Payman's podcast.

Through his writing, public appearances, and NGO, Salim continues to inspire individuals to seek help, understand the science of mental health, and foster open conversations about depression. He is a testament to resilience and the transformative power of hope and advocacy.
