Communications Manager, Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa (COHSASA)
Marilyn has been employed as the Communications Manager of the Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa (COHSASA – www.cohsasa.co.za) since 2000. She studied nursing but moved into the field of journalism, writing investigative medical articles for national newspapers and magazines, and earning an award from the Medical Association of South Africa for excellence in medical writing.
She has helped to organise conferences promoting quality and safety of healthcare in Southern Africa including the World Health Organisation conference in Durban 2005 for the African launch of the World Alliance for Patient Safety, the international conference in Cape Town to launch SafeCare in 2011 and the international ISQua Conference in Cape Town in 2019.She has university degrees in Communications and English Literature. Her passion is improving the quality and safety of healthcare for all patients but particularly those in Africa.
